Does camping need to be technical? No. So don't fuss. Keep it simple.
As is the case with, mostly, everything in the 21st century, camping has gone (or maybe has been now) tech. Just like most everything else, it doesn’t have to be. You can just go enjoy. With so many folks heading out to provincial parks and people trying their hand at van life, it seems everyone has an opinion and a product to sell you and you HAVE to have it. You don’t.
As an outdoor store you’d think we’d like to try to sell you lots of outdoor gear that never gets wet, breathes, makes you lighter, has more pockets, makes the trip more memorable….etc. Really, we just hope you get out. We have that stuff! But we’re always hoping you get out and use it. Some of the most basic items can make for a great camping trip. A simple tent, a sleeping bag that’s appropriate for the temperature, a camp chair and an inexpensive kitchen set. That’s it.
Being outside isn’t about making other people envy you. It’s about being outside. Whatever that means to you. Sitting by a quiet lake and breathing. Walking a trail. S’mores around the fire. Solitude. A companion (furry or other). Doesn’t really matter what it is or who you’re with. Lefebvre’s hopes you’re getting out.
Now that we’ve covered what you don’t need (and that you don’t need to keep up with the camping Jones’s) what can Lefebvre’s offer you? Expertise. Confidence. We’re folks, like you, who just get out there. This past weekend I had to cut a trip short because of an old back flare up. Feeling like I left a little of me out there, I decided to get a good sleep and get out on 4 Mile Lake for a little paddle in my canoe the next day. When I was at the camp site, it was an easy set up and then I just sat, listening to the birds. Simple.
Cars have issues, gear breaks down, trips get cut short. It happens to all of us, but it happens outdoors. If you come to Lefebvre’s we have people here who can share a story. Tell you how they got out of a mess or a favorite knot they use to tie up tarps. You’re always welcome to just come in and ask questions. Or share a story of your own. Either way, we continue to be here to help you simply get out there.
